Meeting the Family

Today Sam and I woke up early(ish), got dressed and went to breakfast. Then we packed all our stuff and brought it downstairs, where we met Mary. She drove us back to her house in the mountains, which has a gorgeous view. We stayed for lunch and played with the kids and had a great time. I can't wait to see them again.

We then came back to the Centre Ville, and it was pouring. We shopped for a few minutes before we decided to return to the hotel lobby to use the WiFi and to wait for our family to come.

Our "dad", Claude, came to pick us up at 18h and he helped us cram all our luggage into his tiny car (in the pouring rain). We drove for about 10 minutes and pulled up alongside this gorgeous vine-covered house. When we got inside, we were greeted (the French way: a kiss on each cheek) by our "mom", Christine. We were then given a tour of our floor! Yes, we have our own FLOOR. Here is what our floor consists of:

A. Sam's room -- Blue and yellow color scheme. Big armoire with mirror. Huge bookshelf. Computer desk. Fridge. Blue carpet. French windows with awesome view. Very relaxing.

B. My room -- White and orange color scheme. Big armoire. Two sweet swivel chairs. Little snack table. Fridge. Hard wood floor. Sweet trendy looking computer desk. French windows with awesome view. Very trendy.

C. Bathroom -- Huge, hardwood floor, large bathtub/shower thing, two sinks, shelves, chairs, pink color scheme.

D. Toilette -- In France, houses do not have the toilet in the bathroom, they have a separate room for the toilet. It's really just a closet.

E. Salon -- That's right, we have a SALON, with a sweet sofa, bookshelf, table, chairs, TV and DVD player. You are so jealous.

F. Guest room -- There is an extra bedroom for guests like Christine's mother or nephews.

After the tour, we hauled all our stuff into our rooms and unpacked until we were called for dinner (around 20h). We went downstairs to their salon, played with their dog, Plume, and were served wine and olives from le Cote d'Azur, where they spent the past week vacationing. After chatting for a little while, we were called the table, where we were ate the following things:

1. Cantaloupe & Bread (and wine, of course)

2. Tomatoes stuffed with charcuterie (which, to the best of my knowledge, is pork with different spices. But I will look it up and get back to you)

3. Five different types of cheese with bread

4. Tarte Tropezienne (a delicious cake with custard filling that they also bought in southern France)

Then, after clearing the table, we went back to the salon, where we watched a documentary about Wal-Mart that was dubbed in French. Fun fact: "burgermeister" means "mayor" in German.

And now I'm in my room, using the sweet internet connection and getting ready for bed. It was a very good day.

P.S. We have to shut the shutters before we go to sleep! Isn't that awesome?
